Mitsubishi Electric Corp has launched a plan to invest another $150m to raise output to 6m 1M-bit memory chips a month: the total allocated for investment now runs to $335m with this supplementary budget: the additional amount will be devoted to building new memory lines in its Kohchi factory which will have the capacity to produce a total of 2m 1M dynamic and 1M static random access memories; the 6m figure will be achieved by setting this capacity alongside that of the company’s main memory chip factory at Seijoh factory, which is embarked on a programme to expand capacity to 4m 1M-bit parts by next spring.
