MIS TEAMS WITH IBM JAPAN TO SELL SOFTWARE PACKAGE

By CBR Staff Writer

Up-and-coming software house MIS International Corp has teamed with IBM Japan to sell a packaged corporate management support system based on the BPCS package from SSA Corp of Chicago: MIS is the distributor for BPCS, the integrated manufacturing, financial and distribution package which competes head on with IBM’s own Mapics package, but IBM is so keen to increase Japanese sales of the AS/400 and the System 38 (so that’s where all the used ones displaced by AS/400s in the US and Europe are going!) because it currently has a derisory 6% to 7% of the mid-range market, so even packages that compete with its own are welcomed if they can increase hardware sales.
