Mirapoint targets SMBs with secure email box

Email server and security vendor Mirapoint Inc, which claims to secure 80 million mailboxes for its large enterprise customers, has unwrapped a secure email box that it has manufactured with the needs of smaller organizations in mind.

By CBR Staff Writer

The new M50 Message Server is an all-in-one appliance with all the necessary anti-virus and anti-spam countermeasures built in to serve, secure, and manage corporate email. The box runs Mirapoint’s own anti-spam software and the Sophos anti-virus programs.

It is said to be virtually maintenance free, and the company will be targeting the needs of businesses wanting to secure messaging for between 50 and 500 users.

This latest email security appliance enters a market that looks to becoming highly charged, with a range of comparable devices now on offer from IronPort Systems, Symantec, and CipherTrust. Mirapoint said the M50 will be launched into the channel during December.

As well as securing email, the M50 provides group calendaring and address book features and can integrate with any IMAP or POP client, Microsoft Office, and mobile mail devices.
