MIPS Technologies, a provider of processor architectures and cores, and SySDSoft, a supplier of mobile WiMAX and LTE embedded software offerings for 4G, said that they are entering into a partnership to enable LTE on the MIPS architecture.
SySDSoft is working with MIPS Technologies to provide an optimised MIPS32 LTE protocol stack that MIPS licensees can leverage across the entire range of MIPS processor cores. SySDSoft will initially port its stack to a MIPS32 24K processor core.
The work between MIPS Technologies and SySDSoft complements the work that many MIPS licensees are already doing in these areas by providing fully tested MAC and PHY software designs to help speed time to market.
Art Swift, vice president of marketing, MIPS Technologies, said: SySDSoft is widely recognised for the quality of its software solutions, so it makes sense for us to partner with them as we make deeper inroads into the mobile market.
With the global transition to 4G, the high bandwidth standards are very similar to wireless technologies where MIPS Technologies has a strong presence. We are excited to leverage this trend and enable our customers to get to market quickly with proven mobile solutions.”
