Meanwhile MIPS Computer Systems Inc has formally set up subsidiary in Japan, calling it MIPS Computer Systems Japan and capitalising it at $40,000: local users of the MIPS R-series RISCs include Sony Corp, U-station Inc and Kubota Computer, and the new office will aim both to increase links with its existing customers and to expand the firm’s OEM base.
