MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS POSTPONES SALE OF STAKE IN TELE DANMARK

By CBR Staff Writer

Denmark’s Ministry of Communications in Copenhagen said it postponed the sale of a 43% stake in Tele Danmark A/S because of possible Nordic co-operation in the telecommunications field: the sale of shares intended to reduce the state’s stake in Tele Danmark to 51% from 94% will not take place between November 16 and 20 as had been scheduled; instead, an 18% stake will be sold on the market in the second half of 1993 while the remaining 25% of the 43% total will be reserved for the possible Nordic deal; Tele Danmark was formed in January 1991 to take over five regional telecommunications companies in order to create a single group able to compete on an international scale as national barriers come down in the European Community.
