MINISTREIAL AGENCY AND HAMAMATSU PHOTONICS TO DEVELOP THE OPTICAL ASSOCIOTRON

The Ministry of International Trade & Industry’s Agency of Industrial Science and Technology has joined forces with Hamamatsu Photonics to develop what it calls the Optical Associotron, an optical associative memory computer that is designed to learn from exposure to images: it is described as a neural network that does not need to be programmed, and is claimed to be a world first for Japan.
