The demise of IBM Corp’s OS/2 for PowerPC effectively eliminates any interest in its Power Personal Computers, about which nothing has been heard since they were launched in May with Windows NT from the deadly enemy as the primary operating system: IBM’s entire PowerPC strategy already looks sick unto death, and the company seems to be doing little to counter that perception, allowing all the stories about the negotiations between Apple Computer Inc and Sun Microsystems Inc to include a line saying that IBM is no longer interested in Apple; since Apple is now the sole volume customer for the PowerPC, if IBM still really cared about the microprocessor as a merchant part, it would care very much indeed about what became of Apple.
