Redwood City, California-based RSA Data Security Inc and China said two Chinese agencies will be exclusive representatives for RSA’s data encryption and digital signature software: China’s Computing Center of the Ministry of Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Graduate School’s Laboratory of Information Security entered an agreement with RSA; the relationship between RSA and the Laboratory of Information Security brings two of the world’s major crypto research organizations together to review and improve cryptographic algorithms; China’s Ministry of Foreign Trade is responsible for managing all importers and exporters in China and key trading partners worldwide through a global computer network that will use RSA’s technology; the US government formerly banned export of encoding technology, but proposed easing restrictions in August 1995.
