Any item from Dow Jones & Co about Prodigy, when relayed by the Prodigy Services Co network, downloads with great chunks of text missing, suggesting that the service feebly decided to scramble anything about Prodigy on grounds that it was sure to be negative. It seems the material only gets scrambled when it downloads to disk – it looks fine on the original screen. An alternative explanation is that Prodigy has some hubristic means of highlighting its own name whenever it appears, and that the technology is just incompatible with most personal computers. Given its inability to fix such glitches, you can see why Sears might want to be shot of it.
