The trucks were working round the clock at the end of last year as IBM Corp finally began filling those orders for Ramac 2 disk arrays for customers that were beginning to wonder if they would ever see the things: all those wagons rolling enabled IBM to claim that in the first 100 days of the delayed general availability of the array, IBM shipped more mainframe storage capacity worldwide than any competitor, including EMC Corp, during the fourth quarter of 1995, it says, citing International Data Corp 1995 figures suggesting that IBM took more than 40% of the market worldwide for System/390 disks during the fourth quarter of 1995.
