Hook, UK-based virtual reality software provider, Superscape VR Plc is aiming for a drastic reduction in customer’s development costs by putting its Visualiser run-time software onto Silicon Graphics Inc’s machines (CI No 2,859). The company, which is giving its run-time software away over the Internet, is concentrating on making its money from its development software, VRT 4.0 and believes the Silicon Graphics deal will open up the virtual reality development market. The company has also announced its support, in conjunction with Silicon Graphics, Netscape Communications Corp and 56 other computer companies for VRML 2.0 Virtual Reality Modelling Language, the emerging standard for providing virtual reality on the Internet. Pricing for the Silicon Graphics Visualiser will be announced in May, when the product ships.
