An Argentine judge says that former executives of IBM Corp’s local unit have testified that top company officials in the US knew about and approved the deal being probed for alleged bribery (CI Nos 2,733, 2,754, 2,784, 2,833). They said the documents were within reach and they gave their approval, Judge Adolfo Bagnasco told Reuters. The executives, who quit as a result of the scandal testified that the US chief for IBM’s Argentine operations, Steve Lew, who finally approved the deal, was in Argentina at the time of the negotiations and received all relevant documents. Bagnasco is waiting for US judge approval before questioning Lew.
