A new app has opened up a range of email cloud services to enterprise Mac users, after the solutions were previously only available on Windows operating systems.
SaaS email management firm Mimecast released the Mac-native app today to widen availability of its cloud backup, faster archive search, and spam management solutions outside of Windows or web portal users.
It has also upgraded its Large File Send service, enabling Apple users to use it as well, claiming there is growing concern amid IT administrators that using third-party cloud services puts their firm at risk of data security breaches.
Its latest version of Large File Send means users can send and receive large attachments from people who may not be a Mimecast customer.
The tech company added that IT administrators would also benefit by being able to manage Apple Mac devices alongside Windows from their central admin console.
Orlando Scott-Cowley, director of technology marketing, said: "IT teams manage complex environments that mix PCs and Macs with multiple mobile devices. Securing data across these heterogeneous environments can be a real headache.
"IT administrators now know that some of their most storage-hungry users can exchange big files within a safe corporate IT framework, and with no need to resort to consumer cloud services."
