Millicom Inc is aiming to get a share of the Italian mobile communications market with the formation of a new Milan-based subsidiary, Millicom Teleservices Italia SpA – MTI: the company’s principal shareholders will be Millicom International Holdings Ltd and the financial holding company Telfin SpA, which already has a significant presence in radio communications in Italy; MTI says it is already negotiating with the Italian Post Office Board to obtain licences for mobile telephony, alphanumeric radio paging, private mobile trunk radio and as operator of a future Personal Communications Network.
