MILFORD, CONNECTICUT, PROTEST AGAINST PAY PHONES

By CBR Staff Writer

The good folk of Milford, Connecticut are up in arms about a plan to desecrate their 18th century village green with one of those infernal contraptions they call a pay phone – which would sound reasonable enough were it not for the fact that according to the International Herald Tribune, the green is already adorned with several monuments to war veterans, a bandstand, a World War One tank, concrete benches and litter bins, all of which make it sound like a most suitable site for one of British Telecommunications Plc’s new monstrosities.
