Games manufacturer, Midway Games Inc, has chosen Verilink Corp’s wide area network access products as infrastructure components for a networked arcade system that it is testing. The test network, called WaveNet, links arcades in San Francisco and Los Angeles for interactive video gaming, allowing customers to play video games with opponents in other arcades in both cities. Midway Games is evaluating the technology and feasibility of this application but has not yet announced any specific plans for wide-scale deployment. The Midway network incorporates the Verilink Access System 2000 integrated access device and C Series CSU/DSU (channel service unit/data service unit) WAN access products. The Verilink C Series CSU/DSU devices serve as the primary network access and termination point to deliver high-speed T1 services to each arcade site. The AS2000 integrated access devices are used in the WaveNet point of presence in each city. Chicago, Illinois based Midway is best known for its game Mortal Kombat. Its subsidiaries include Atari Games Corp and Midway Home Entertainment.
