Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank Group’s Midland Bank Plc, through its partnership with accountancy software firm Sage Group Plc, hopes to encourage UK and European businesses to cut down paper transactions and make payments electronically via the BACS Bankers Automated Clearing System. The bank is offering its Hexagon on-line banking software to Sage users in the UK at a discounted price of #35 per month for unlimited access (CI No 2,858) to up to five separate bank accounts. Hexagon provides on- line statements, cash transfer, invoice payments, and account reconciliation on both Midland and third party bank accounts. The software will be fully integrated with the Sage suite and users do not need to take out separate registration with BACS, as this is included in the service. The pact gives Midland access to all Sage’s corporate users.
