MICROWARE WINS ANOTHER MILLION SET-TOPS FOR DAVID O/S

By CBR Staff Writer

Microware Systems Corp has won another lucrative set-top box deal for its OS/9-based David operating system, this time from Dublin- based electronics company Ferrotec Ltd. Ferrotec is producing a PowerPC-based box to provide full interactive video applications, including video-on-demand, internet access, electronic mail, home shopping and home banking, and says it will be rolling out one million of the boxes over the next two years. The products begin to ship late this year. David is being used for various interactive television trials, and is being used in Zenith Electronics Corp’s giant set-top box contract with Americast Inc (CI No 2,925).
