Bradford-based Microvitec Plc has acquired Project Assyst Ltd, a supplier of computer-based loyalty systems, designed to enable retailers to target their promotions more accurately. Assyst also engages in consultancy to the retail market. The value of the deal was not disclosed. Assyst Ltd, based in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire, consists of only six people. The company will become part of Microvitec’s Software Systems Division. According to Tim Goldring, Microvitec’s group marketing director, Assyst is a good fit for the company, which started out as a maker of low-cost display terminals, because Microvitec already markets various point-of-sale systems, and the latest acquisition should help win more of these accounts, he believes. He added that the company planned to continue its strategy of growth through acquisition.
