Microtest Inc, developing local area network products in Phoenix, Arizona, plans to acquire Logicraft Information Systems Inc, which develops enterprise CD-ROM networking systems, for $13m and the assumption of $4m in debt. The acquisition will be accounted for as a puchase, and Microtest says it intends to take a one- time charge this quarter for the write-off of purchased research and development. For the nine months to September 30, Microtest reported sales of $38.3m and Logicraft had sales of $10.5m. The privately-held company’s CDROM networking and optical storage retrieval products are designed to provide fast access to multiple databases on CD-ROM and Microtest looks to the company to shoot it into the lead in the CD-networking market.
