McLean, Virginia-based MicroStrategy first filed suit back in April 2002 after alleging that some of its former employees that joined Business Objects had misappropriated trade secrets contained in documents.

The judge in that case seemed to rule largely in Business Objects’ favor and denied MicroStrategy’s full damage claim.

Not content with the ruling, MicroStrategy urged the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia to conduct its own investigation of Business Objects.

After Business Objects agreed to review and enhance its internal practices with respect to handling of potential trade secrets and other competitive information, the US Attorney decided not to pursue any charges against Business Objects.

Business Objects says it is appointing an independent expert to oversee internal training programs and initiatives.

Hopefully this will put an end to any further legal wranglings between the two software firms.
