Microsoft Corp reckons version 2.0 of its NetMeeting conference meeting software is the first single product to integrate videoconferencing, telephony and multipoint data conferencing for collaboration over intranets and the internet. Not surprisingly, the company says 60 vendors have already signed up to make products and services compatible with version 2.0, including Intel Corp, Compaq Computer Corp and Toshiba Corp. In the next few weeks, Microsoft will announce versions in 20 different languages. Skeptics can try it for themselves. The software is available for free download from the company’s web site.
