MICROSOFT WARNS UK OF STOLEN SOFTWARE AFTER ARMED RAID

Microsoft Corp is warning that stolen software may flood the UK market in the run-up to Christmas after an armed-raid on Thompson Micro, one of its suppliers in East Kilbridge, Scotland. The gang got away with over 100,000 CDs, including copies of the home encyclopaedia Encarta and Office 97. Over 200,000 Certificates of Authenticity were also taken. Microsoft warned consumers to be wary if offered cheap versions of its software especially at garage sales.
