Microsoft Corp has called in Oracle Corp to become a significant contributor to the evolution of its Open Database Connectivity specification, and the two companies will jointly develop an Open Database driver for Oracle – including the new Oracle7 of course – and will work together to test applications for Windows with the Oracle driver to provide seamless links to the Oracle database; Oracle has been working with Microsoft for some time on a high-performance implementation of the Oracle relational database for Windows NT; Open Database Connectivity enables developers to write one set of code that accesses many types of databases.
