Microsoft has said that it made the decision to drop Java because of Sun’s opposition to the company in its current antitrust case with nine US states.
The Java language is not included in current versions of Windows XP although users can download it if they need to run programs written in the language. Microsoft has said that it will temporarily restore support for Java in the next planned update of Windows XP, which it plans to release in the fall.
