Microsoft has announced the acquisition of four packages from different vendors that will extend the core capabilities of its Dynamics AX enterprise resource planning product in the areas of manufacturing, professional services and retail.

According to Microsoft, the manufacturing software from Fullscope will provide tight integration of business process across discrete manufacturing and process manufacturing and the professional service product from Computer Generated Solutions delivers a single system to manage projects and resources, execute financial transactions and customer billing, and match resources with client assignments

The company said that the retail products from LS Retail EHF and To-Increase, a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbus IT Partner, will enable it to provide and end-to-end retail system including store management with point-of-sale, merchandising and ERP capabilities.

Crispin Read, general manager of Microsoft Dynamics ERP, said: “With these acquisitions we are investing in building industry functionality directly into the Microsoft Dynamics AX application, while other ERP vendors are cutting corners or trying to reconcile multiple industry offerings as a result of acquiring several companies.”

Process manufacturing and professional services products for Microsoft Dynamics AX are available immediately while the retail products are expected to be available at a later date.
