You are not going to be able to escape Windows if Microsoft Corp has anything to say about it – and in its latest campaign to make that detestable little hour glass – or egg timer – ubiquitous, the company plans to come out with a version of Windows that will run on computer-televisions. Microsoft says it will begin publishing standards for the new architecture next month, so that electronics manufacturers and entertainment producers can get products out in time for next Christmas. More than 50 companies, including General Electric Co Inc’s NBC unit, Spelling Entertainment, Sony Corp and Compaq Computer Corp plan to supp- ort the standards, which will include an electronic TV Guide.
