Microsoft releases Office Live beta

Microsoft has released a beta version of its new Microsoft Office Live. The software is targeted at small-business customers and gives them a chance to trial Microsoft's cost-free internet-based software services.

By CBR Staff Writer

Microsoft says that the online services are designed to give small businesses the same advantages as their larger rivals, including the sorts of enterprise resource tools traditionally associated with global firms.

Office Live will offer a number of services, ranging from free domain names to website and company email accounts. All the tools will be internet-based and free. A system supported by online advertising, although more comprehensive services will be available on a subscription-fee basis.

Jeff Raikes, president of the Microsoft Business Division, summed up the software, With Microsoft Office Live, we are making online services available for small businesses to create an enterprise-like IT infrastructure without the management requirements.
