ACORD is a global, nonprofit insurance association that works to facilitate the development and use of standards for the insurance, reinsurance and related financial services industries.

Microsoft Services participated in the working group by providing insights as to the development of ACORD’s new business architecture model, and continues to contribute through the use of its methodology and insurance knowledge as an ongoing member of the working group.

ACORD’s Insurance Capability Model, used with the Microsoft Insurance Value Chain (IVC), will provide the industry with a working methodology and industry standards framework to develop and implement successful solutions for addressing mission-critical challenges, said Dennis Maroney, worldwide insurance industry manager for the commercial sector group at Microsoft.

Microsoft has also announced the release of new self-running demos, business solution documents and other updated content as part of its IVC initiative.

Available for download on the MSDN developer network website, the business solution documents focus on the common workflow areas of new business origination for commercial auto, annuities and policy renewal.

Also available are self-running animated demos for these core areas, as well as a white paper discussing both the IVC and Microsoft’s technical and architectural agenda for the insurance industry.
