Eolas has filed a motion to permanently prevent Microsoft’s distribution of IE, following a $520.6 million court award against the company for infringement of Eolas’ browser plug-in technology.

Eolas believe Microsoft should not be allowed to use patented technology unless it is willing to pay for a license.

Microsoft, meanwhile, has begun a number of moves designed to minimize its exposure to Eolas’ action both on a legal front and a technology basis.

Aside from appealing, Microsoft has also filed a number of court motions against Eolas for damages while also claiming elements of Eolas’ technology is already available in the market place.

Microsoft has also announced modifications to IE and Windows designed to side-step Eolas software.
