Microsoft Corp plans to set up an internet shopping mall with retailers from eight countries in a bid to increase e-commerce and internet use in Europe. The mall, dubbed E-Christmas, will open on November 4 to be ready for the shopping rush in the run- up to the festive season. John Leftwich, Microsoft’s vice president for corporate marketing in Europe, forecast that between 70 and 150 retailers will participate. Microsoft does not plan to take any transaction fees but the site will be linked to other Microsoft sites.
