MICROSOFT MICROWAVE? HANDHELD TECHNOLOGY ON THE MENU

By CBR Staff Writer

We don’t want to spoil your appetite but Bill Gates could soon be responsible for cooking your dinner. Microsoft Corp’s s Windows CE platform, which was introduced at Comdex last year, has become a Comdex VIP after only twelve months in the spotlight. James Floyd, product manager for the handheld products group at Microsoft, is quick to point out that Hewlett-Packard Co’s sales for handhelds have grown to 2.5 times what they were before it first introduced a CE-based. Floyd also discusses such future plans as CE golf carts that tell you how far you are from the pin – a technology already barred by golf’s governing body – and a microwave that begins cooking your food when you dial in from outside.
