MICROSOFT LOOKS AT SLOWER GROWTH

Microsoft Corp vice-president and treasurer Greg Maffei reiterated yesterday that the company’s outlook is for slower overall growth. Speaking at a Goldman Sachs & Co technology conference, he cited in particular slower growth in Microsoft’s desktop applications business, on which he said it’s a challenge to get corporations to upgrade… it’s a slower growth business. And despite rapid sales growth for Windows NT, the product is not expected to have a significant impact on revenues in fiscal 1997, which ends in June.
