Microsoft launches raid on Intuit customer base

Microsoft Corp is trying to unsettle Intuit Inc by offering 12 months of unlimited personal support to small businesses that buy the full Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006 package in the US.

By CBR Staff Writer

Intuit has a lead position in the small business accounting market in the US with its QuickBooks application, and Microsoft’s offer is designed to gain market share. It is pitching its own application as a replacement offering that has the benefit of the Microsoft Office look and feel. The offer also includes a $100 refund on packages bought between now and April 30.

Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006 is targeted at companies with up to 25 employees, and provides accounting, inventory, sales order and purchase order processing, job tracking, banking, and payroll process capabilities.
