Microsoft Corp last month introduced a fully-localised Russian version of MS-DOS 5.0. This is the second localisation of the MS-DOS operating system for the Soviet market and the company’s third Russian-language product. Russian MS-DOS 5.0 was developed by an international team including Russians based in Ireland. The product was designed with the Ukrainian and Byelorussian languages in mind as well as Russian. The new version has improved printer support, on-line help, a shell, the QBasic programming language and full Russain documentation. Russian MS-DOS 5.0 will be sold only to manufacturers to be resold with their computers. No prices were announced.
