Microsoft Corp is beta testing a script debugger for Internet Explorer that can handle both Java and Visual Basic, and is said to be the first available that can debug scripted HTML Hypertext Markup Language. Microsoft Script Debugger plugs into Internet Explorer 3.01 for Windows95 and NT, and debugs applications written in either Microsoft’s JScript version of JavaScript or VBScript, the language from the Visual Basic Scripting Edition. The debugger should simplify the life of anyone writing scripted HTML pages, Microsoft says. It includes a dynamic hierarchical source tree that shows the HTML source files and frame set structure of a current site, with automatic updates when the site changes. The Script Debugger uses syntax colored source windows to display scripts within the HTML context, and also supports breakpoint and single-stepping.
