Microsoft Corp has conceded to user demand for Netscape browser support onits Internet Gaming Zone. It said it will add support for the Netscape Communicator 4.0 World Wide Web browser when the Zone’s next update goes live this spring. At the end of last year the gaming industry had a wry smile on its face when it read that users who tried to get onto the gaming site with a Netscape browser were hit with the message: We’re sorry. For technical reasons the Zone doesn’t yet support Netscape Navigator 3.0 and higher browsers. We’re working to add this support and we apologize for the inconvenience. In the meantime, we invite you to download Microsoft Internet Explorer for free, after which they were lead to a link offering them a free copy of Explorer. Microsoft said its Internet Gaming Zone has now registered more than 1.1million members since it began back in October 1995. The Zone is seeing around 6,500 simultaneous users at peak times, and is matching users for multi player games at a rate of 1.5 million games per month, it added. Microsoft said that support for Netscape’s browser will make the Internet Gaming Zone available to nearly everyone on the Internet, which it hopes will make make the site grow even faster.
