Microsoft Corp has cut all prices for its East European customers: USSR business development manager Dale Christensen says that from this month, East European buyers will be charged the US prices plus freight – previously they had to pay the full world price charged to all customers outside the US; Christensen says the move will make products between 35% and 40% cheaper in the region – for example the price of a non-discounted copy of MS-Works, which used to sell for DM590 will now cost DM295; Microsoft had previously charged full prices for fear of encouraging a grey market of exports to countries where the price is higher; Microsoft sells only for hard currency in the USSR.
