Microsoft said it plans to use MotionBridge’s search technology to expand the mobile capabilities of Windows Live.

By combining the mobile search solutions of MotionBridge with Microsoft mobile search instruments such as local and Web search, we will provide mobile operators and consumers with an even richer search experience, said VP of Microsoft’s MSN Search Christopher Payne, in a statement.

Paris-based MotionBridge currently sells to mobile carriers in Europe and North America, and Microsoft said it would continue to offer its current services. Sprint Nextel, O2 and Orange are among MotionBridge’s customers. Microsoft said it acquires these operator relationships as part of the deal, as well as an undisclosed number of MotionBridge employees.
