FolderShare’s software access and synchronizes folders from various devices via the web. Microsoft says it will use the technology to boost its Windows Live software services.

FolderShare is one of several start-ups to target information synchronization and remote access capabilities. The benefit of software like FolderShare is that users avoid the hassle of having to email large files, burn CDs or upload them onto websites in order to share them. Rather, users can synch information access remotely from any web browser.

FolderShare was launched in 2002 and operated by ByteTaxi Inc, an Austin, Texas-based firm.
