Microsoft Corp is now beta testing Windows95 client software for NetWare that is said to incorporate support for Novell Inc’s NetWare Directory Services. While Windows95 will incorporate client software for NetWare, the enhanced Microsoft Client for NetWare Directory Services is designed to increase integration, particularly for log-in and browsing. Specifically, the software, which is implemented as a full Windows95 32-bit network client is said to provide graphical NetWare Directory Services tree browsing support, long file names, drag and drop manipulation, and point and print support. It is said to be fully integrated with the Network Control Panel to aid installation and configuration and to include log-in scripts for both NetWare 3.X and 4.X. Plug & Play is also supported, as are NetWare utilities including Netadmin and NLIST. Finally, it is said to incorporate integrated password management enabling users to employ a single log-in name and password to access all network resources and pa ssword-enabled Windows95-based applications. The software is to ship in 60 to 90 days of Windows95 being released this month, and it will be available for download from Microsoft’s FTP server, CompuServe and the Microsoft Network.
