The agreement sees the two companies making a multimillion-dollar investment in Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 running on clusters of HP servers.
HP is selling Windows CSS 2003 via both its direct and reseller channels as part of the Unified Cluster Portfolio, which runs on its ProLiant, Integrity, and BladeSystem servers, and has made a number of enhancements to Windows CSS 2003 to improve deployment times, including custom installation scripts and documentation.
The two companies have also established technology centers in Houston, Texas and Grenoble, France, for customers and software vendors to test and benchmark their applications.
Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 was released in June 2006 and is the first version of Windows designed specifically to run parallel HPC applications. HP’s Unified Cluster Portfolio is designed to provide a pre-configured modular stack of HPC software and hardware and can be assembled to meet customer requirements.
