The companies signed a letter of intent to jointly develop, market and deliver solutions that combine Amdocs’ consulting and implementation services, as well as the Amdocs 6 CRM and billing portfolio, with Microsoft Communications Sector solutions, which includes the Microsoft Connected Services Framework that enables the delivery of converged communications services across multiple networks and devices.
The proposed agreement covers three development areas. Amdocs would expand its integration with the Microsoft Connected Services Framework to facilitate flow-through provisioning and usage collection for a variety of Microsoft services such as the Microsoft Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration and the Microsoft TV platform. It also plans to make Amdocs Partner Manager 6, which manages revenues associated with third-party partner content services, available on the Microsoft platform. The two vendors also plan to develop a series of web services-based interfaces, designed to make deployment costs lower and less risky and help get new services to market quickly.
The aim is to provide a simplified service delivery architecture for converged services that can be used to support the rapidly changing dynamics of the market in which SPs must rapidly create and deliver new combinations of services to customers.
Amdocs has also launched a service-based order management solution for communication service providers in the form of its Order-to-Activation Solution. It pulls together applications from Amdoc’s portfolio, including Amdocs Fulfillment Manager, as well as consulting services to streamline multiple systems and manual processes that support the steps undertaken between the time a customer orders a new service to the moment it is available on their mobile device. It unifies service ordering, provisioning and activation across all products and lines-of-business.
