Microsoft Corp has acquired Altamira Software Corp, Mill Valley, California-based developer of the Composer Windows image-editing software, PC Week hears. Composer pioneered the use of a free-floating object architecture that has been copied in other widely-used graphics packages. The technology will likely be integrated into other Microsoft software and may first appear repackaged in a home application, Altamira chief architect Nicholas Clay told PC Week.
