Microsoft will launch its new Xbox One game console and entertainment system in November 2013 in 21 countries as the US software maker eyes to expand its reach in the living room.

The new console is being launched following its introduction in May 2013, as the latest move in the software giant’s rivalry with Nintendo and Sony in the $65bn a year video game business.

The new Xbox One system will incorporate the new Xbox One console featuring a 500GB hard drive, Blu-ray player and built-in Wi-Fi, in addition to the new Kinect, an Xbox One Wireless Controller and a free 14-day trial of Xbox Live Gold for new members.

Microsoft’s latest console allows instant switching between games, television, and internet browsing, while it also allows integrating Skype for online group video calls.

Reports claims the 8GB Xbox One is priced more than Nintendo’s new Wii U 8GB model at $300, while Sony is expected to specify pricing of its new PlayStation 4 on 17 June.

The successor to the Xbox 360 will be offered at a price tag of $499 in the US, £429 in the UK and €499 in Europe.

Microsoft has sold about 77 million Xbox 360 consoles since its launch in late 2005.
