After Apple, Microsoft is reportedly entering into the smartwatch race with a smartwatch that will have health tracking capabilities and is expected to work across Windows, Android and iOS mobile platforms.

The new gadget is likely to be launched before the holiday shopping season starts, reported Forbes.

The smartwatch is expected to have heart rate monitor which will passively track the wearer’s heart rate, a feature similar to the one found in Moto 360.

However, Moto 360 needs to be charged everyday but Forbes reported an unnamed source saying that Microsoft’s smartwatch could last for more than two days on a single charge, giving it an edge above its competitors.

Another thing that will make it different is its cross platform compatibility which is not present in smartwatches offered by other big brands.

According to estimates, wearable market could become worth $7.1bn in 2015 and with this new product Microsoft is expected to compete with other big players in the wearable market.
