Microsoft Solitaire games opens up to iOS, Android after 25 years

The classic game from Windows 3.0 of 1990 is now available in app.

By CBR Staff Writer

Microsoft for the first time has introduced its classic Solitaire collection of games to Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platforms.

The game which used to be played by users for hours in their desktops have gone out of fashion with the arrival of mobiles can now be played on mobiles.

Microsoft had launched the Solitaire when it released Windows 3.0 in 1990 and the new version has retained some of the classic features of the 25 year old game like shuffling sound and jumping of cards when a user wins.

The version of Solitaire available for Windows 10 has been released on Android’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

It goes by the name Solitaire Collection and has five card games including Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid and Tripeaks. All these games have been bundled in a single app.

The game collection has daily challenges, where a user can play guaranteed solvable challenges everyday in all the five game modes with different levels of difficulty.

The free to download game has been released in two versions. One is with ads and the other is a Premium Edition with no ads and also doubles the coin bonus in daily challenges.

Microsoft Casual Games Studio Manager Paul Jensen said in a blog post: “The game also includes Daily Challenges, where you can play guaranteed solvable challenges every day in all five game modes with multiple levels of difficulty, while earning cool awards.

“Plus, with Xbox Live integration, you can sign in with your Xbox Live gamertag or Microsoft account to earn Xbox Live achievements and Gamerscore, compete with friends, and continue playing on any Windows 10, iPhone, iPad, or Android device while on the go since your progress and game data are saved in the cloud. If you’re not an Xbox Live member, signing up for a free membership through the game is easy and totally worth it.”

Premium Edition of the game can be used for one month without charge and after that it will be charged at $1.99 per month.

Microsoft also offers Xbox Live integration for this game collection. A user can sign up for Xbox Live or through Microsoft account and play games with friends and family and earn achievements.
