Microsoft has reported it has sold one million Xbox One consoles during the first 24 hours of sale, which started from 22 November at midnight across the globe.
Eight years after the launch of the Xbox 360, Microsfot says that the One console has surpassed the sales records set by its predecessor.
Microsoft expects to strengthen its position in the gaming device market with the launch of the One, and will compete with Sony’s Playstation 4, which also has reported sales of over one million during its first 24 hours, but only in North America.
About 300 video game shops and 100 Tesco stores stayed open during the release in order to serve eager gamers.
In the UK, the Xbox One is costing about £429, while the PlayStation 4, which is set to launch in the UK by the next week, would be available for £349.
