Microsoft has slashed US prices of its year old Surface 2 tablets by $100, until 27th September, with price cuts affecting all three model of the tablet.

The 32GB model which retailed for $449 is now being offered for $349, the 64GB 4G LTE model for AT&T is now offered for $579, $100 less than what it was sold for, and the 64 GB model which was sold for $549 is now being offered for $449.

The company recently introduced the Surface Pro 3 tablet and by offering its previous generation tablet at a low price, Microsoft is expecting a sale boost.

Reportedly Surface 2 did not live up to the expectations of Microsoft, and by reducing the price the company might be trying to boost the sales.

Surface 2’s 32GB model has 2GB of RAM and it’s powered by Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, it features 10.6 inch screen with 5-point multi-touch.

The tablet also features 3.5 megapixel front camera and 5.0 megapixel rear camera, and apart from storage there is not much difference between the three tablets.
